UC Irvine host webinar on mitigatating Financial Risks in Business Contracts
As businesses adjust their practices during the recession, University of California, Irvine Extension recognizes the pressures put on contract management professionals to enhance profitability through prudent contracting practices. In response, a free online webinar titled “Financial Aspects of Business Contracts” will be held Thursday, March 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST that focuses on the subject of mitigating financial risks. Hosted by industry expert James Leverentz, M.B.A., the webinar will provide insights to structuring cash flow through financial methods, including invoice timing, pricing, overhead considerations, advance payments, letters of credit and other financial sources.
“Prudent contracting financial practices are vital to enhancing the profitability of a company,” said Tom Pokladowski, acting director of law, finance and business programs at UC Irvine Extension. “James will provide attendees with his first-hand knowledge on contracting efficiently to minimize financial risks.”
Webinar participants will be introduced to the concepts of accounting systems, budgeting, reporting, auditing and settlements to enhance profitability. Emphasis will be placed on creating efficiency in public sector contract management. The webinar will also introduce participants to subjects covered in the “Financial Aspects of Business Contracts” online course that will be held March 26 through June 3. Webinar attendees will earn one CPE credit and learn more about continuing education courses available to advance their contracting skills.
With over 20 years of experience in contract management and purchasing agreements, Leverentz has managed contracts and purchasing agreements with the U.S. government, domestic and international firms, and foreign governments.
